A latest survey by Afrobarometer has revealed that majority of Zambians are dissatisfied with the country’s economic condition and trajectory.
According to the survey, most Zambians describe their personal living conditions as bad, with only 37 percent of citizens expecting the economic situation to improve in the next 12 months while 47 percent of the citizens predict that it will worsen.
Presenting the Afrobarometer Round 10 Survey Findings in Lusaka this morning, Institute of Economic and Social Research University of Zambia National Investigator, Edward Chibwili said the survey revealed that nearly three-quarters representing 73 percent of Zambians expressed negative views on the country’s economy, saying their economic condition is fairly bad or very bad while 66 percent feel the same about their personal living conditions.
Mr Chibwili explains that two-thirds which represents 66 percent of Zambians say the country is heading in the wrong direction, which is a 20 percent increase from 2022.
He stated that the increasing cost of living tops the list of problems that Zambians want addressed by government, followed by water supply, health, infrastructure, food and electricity.
