The allocation amount represents an increase of $34 million compared to the $315 million allocated to Zambia in the current implementation period which started in 2021 ending at the close of this year.
Announcing the development in Lusaka this morning, Chairperson of the Country Coordinating Mechanism-CCM- of the Global Fund in Zambia Bishop Joshua Banda explained that HIV programming has received the highest allocation at over $250 million followed by malaria with over $77 million while TB interventions have received over $21 million in the main allocation.
Bishop Banda says Zambia is at liberty to change the disease allocations provided that the adjustments are made based on an evidence based analysis of programmatic and system gaps approved by the global fund.
And Health Minister Sylvia Masebo has commended the Global Fund for the support saying Zambia has made significant strides in the fight against the 3 diseases but that mores still needs to be done hence the funding is commendable.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Finance and National Planning Acting Permanent Secretary Budget and Economic Affairs Mwaka Mukubesa says government has placed citizens at the centre of its developmental agenda and is therefore dedicated to ensuring enhanced health service delivery
