Governance Activist Archie Mulunda has urged Zambians to refrain from politicizing non-political national matters, emphasizing the importance of effective checks and balances within the law.
Mr. Mulunda has cited yesterday’s 10th memorial church service for late President Michael Sata which saw two events held at once, as a prime example of how political players often seek to stir up confusion over non-political matters.
While President Hakainde Hichilema and the Sata family held the official Requiem Mass at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, Patriotic Front-PF members joined an Archbishop Alick Banda led Mass at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus at the Pope Square.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Mulunda has stressed the need for coexistence, rather than resorting to tribal remarks, physical or verbal abuse saying the objective should be to develop Zambia, not to cause anarchy.
He has also encouraged the Zambia Police to enforce the law firmly, even in the face of condemnation from those seeking to disrupt the country’s peace, saying they have themselves to blame when arrested or taken to court.
