The Indian government says plans are underway to set-up 400 megawatts of solar power plants in Zambia to help cushion the current power deficit.
Speaking during the 6th session of the Zambia-India Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation in Lusaka this morning, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, environment, forest and climate change, Shri Singh says his government will expedite the process of implementing this project under the international solar alliance mandate to help Zambia to mitigate the energy crisis caused by climate change.
Mr. Singh has also disclosed India’s contribution of 2500 metric tonnes of maize to Zambia as well as assistance to other sectors to help alleviate the impact of the current drought crisis.
He has further committed his country’s continued support to Zambia in addressing challenges that may affect the country and limit its growth.
At Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Mulambo Haimbe says he remains positive in the cordial relationship that Zambia and India share as it drives sustainable development for both nations.
