An assessment by the National Action for Quality Education in Zambia-NAQEZ has revealed that local authorities have not done much to improving the country’s educational standards in Constituency Development Fund-CDF funded institutions.
NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa says his organization has been monitoring the situation and has noted the need for improved standards while ensuring that funding does not go to waste by producing half-baked graduates.
He says negative reports regarding the training institutions sponsored by CDF have continued, with some of them having poor infrastructure and limited equipment worsened by the issue of unqualified lecturers.
The expanded and broadened Constituency Development Fund now caters for the sponsorship for skills training for youths across the country but is marred with concerns regarding educational standards which could compromise quality in output.
