The negotiations between NFCA management and the mine worker unions have delayed for close to three months behind stipulated end date under the law, 31st December.
On Monday, both the Mine-Workers Union of Zambia-MUZ- and the National Union of Miners and Allied Workers-NUMAW- disclosed to Phoenix News that they would engage management at NFCA again to indicate that workers were not satisfied with the K400 salary increment offer.
NUMAW President Saul Simujika indicated that the outcome of that meeting would determine the next course of action for the unions as to whether to sign the agreement or invoke provisions of the guiding law to declare a dispute if the parties did not agree.
But Mine-Workers Union of Zambia President Joseph Chewe has confirmed to Phoenix News this morning that the unions and management have finally agreed on a K500 salary increment for unionized workers for the year 2023.
