National Union of Miners and Allied Workers-NUMAW president Saul Simujika has revealed that the union will not make uniform demands during the upcoming collective bargaining process.
Mr. Simujika explains to Phoenix News that each mine has its unique cost profile, hence the resolve to tailor demands to what’s manageable for each individual mine.
He says the union’s primary objective is to secure significant salary increments for workers while avoiding decisions that might harm the mining companies, saying this delicate balance is crucial to ensure the sustainability of the mining industry.
Mr. Simujika has emphasized that NUMAW will negotiate without inciting workers, aiming for the best possible deals for miners while acknowledging the importance of maintaining positive relationships with the mining companies.
The NUMAW president hopes to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for both workers and employers through commitment to finding solutions that work for all stakeholders involved.
