A total of K260,048,563 has so far been disbursed to 3,221 farmers whose applications were successfully processed and approved for disbursement under the Sustainable Agricultural Financing Facility -SAFF-.
Agriculture Minister Reuben Mtolo says this is out of the 44,593 applications that were received countrywide under the facility as at 28th December, 2024.
In a statement, Mr. Mtolo says the loan amounts applied for were in the amount of K311,467,952 and that so far, K260,048,563 has been disbursed.
He has also indicated that 2,338 successful applicants have redeemed their inputs worth K188,959,898 under the facility which offers fertilizer, seed, lime and other Agro chemicals, irrigation systems, livestock and aquaculture among others.
And Mr. Mtolo has disclosed that discussions are underway with ACCESS, ABSA, ECOBANK, UBA AND ZICB to be among the participating banks to be disbursing the loans to farmers.
