President Hakainde Hichilema has assured that his government will always prioritize dialogue and consensus building on all matters of governance.
Speaking when he met members of Civil Society Organizations at state house this morning, President Hichilema says government has through engagement with various stakeholders been able to resolve matters that at one point seemed to be contentious but through dialogue, were resolved.
The president has however said that his government is not one that will pretend and accept everything even where it is not satisfied and is focused on delivering to the satisfaction of the general public while abiding by the rule of law.
And speaking on behalf of the CSOs, Non-Governmental Gender Organizations Coordinating Council-NGOCC- Executive Director Annie Anamela told the president that civil society organizations are concerned with the cybercrimes and cyber security bills in their state adding that even the latter stage of their formulation lacked engagement and consideration of their concerns.
Ms. Anamela says the CSOs are recommending that government establish a constitutionality assessment mechanism that will ensure all the drafted bills align with the constitution to avoid the violation of citizen’s rights and any concerns from the public.
