The Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA has suspended a service license for Juldan motors following the conclusion of investigations into the accident involving the Juldan South Africa bound bus which occurred on 15th October in Kafue district and claimed 4 lives.
Addressing the media in Lusaka today, RTSA Chief Executive Officer Amon Mweemba says investigations into the cause of the accident has revealed several abrogations by the bus company which include fault GPS, lack of proper servicing of the vehicle and lack of rest for the driver of the said bus.
Mr. Mweemba says information obtained from Shimabala toll gate revealed that the bus and the driver in question had arrived the previous day at about 16:30hrs from South Africa before embarking on a return trip to the same destination.
He says the investigations have also revealed poor fleet management system by Juldan bus as most of its buses have faulty GPS.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mweemba has disclosed that the driver of the mini bus which was recently involved in an accident in Lusaka’s ibex hill remains at large while the owner of the bus has also failed to own up.
And Mr. Mweemba has further announced that the agency has suspended 23 licenses for PSV drivers for among other abrogations over speeding and breaching the night ban travel ban.
