United Kwacha Alliance -UKA Chairperson for Media, Saboi Imboela says the newly formed Tonse Alliance has nothing to offer aside endorsing former President Edgar Lungu as its presidential candidate in the 2026 general elections.
Ms. Imboela tells Phoenix News in an interview that the recent decision by some members of the Tonse Alliance to leave UKA and form the people’s pact where they also endorsed Mr Lungu, is evidence of how disorganized the groupings are.
She explains that an invitation for a collaboration with the Tonse Alliance can only work if the group rejoined UKA and reopen the process to choose the alliance leader and not impose Mr. Lungu.
Ms. Imboela has however not ruled out the possibility of the two alliances working together in the future but is shocked that same former UKA alliance members who left following a minor disagreement, can reach out for a collaboration.
The Tonse Alliance has endorsed former President Edgar Lungu as its 2026 presidential candidate and extended an olive branch to the United Kwacha Alliance for a possible collaboration going into the next general elections.
