Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the UPND government will not suffer the same fate as the ruling party in neighboring Botswana where the ruling party has lost the just ended general elections.
Mrs. Nalumango says this is because the current regime is working hard to meet its obligation to the people.
Responding to a question from Lumezi Member of Parliament Munir Zulu who wanted to know what the current regime makes of the election result in neighboring countries in apparent reference to Botswana where the outgoing president Mokgweetsi Masisi has only served one term, Mrs. Nalumango says the current regime is comfortably in office knowing that they will emerge victorious in the 2026 elections.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Nalumango says there is nowhere in the UPND manifesto where it says the exchange rate will be reduced to K10 and that it is impossible to fix the rate because it keeps fluctuating.
Speaking in parliament this morning during the vice president`s question time, Mrs. Nalumango who admitted that the UPND promised to reduce the exchange rate in the run up to the 2021 general elections said the current regime has actually recorded success in terms of managing the exchange rate especially that the global economy has gone through a lot of difficulties.
