Prior to this downward price adjustment, the Zambia National Association for Saw Millers last month rejected a 25 percent price increment on pine wood and an 85 percent increase effected on eucalyptus and called for a suspension on the sales of the same.
But ZAFFICO has today announced that the price of eucalyptus will reduce from K1,515.15 to K1,149.29 while the price of pine round wood will reduce from K1,515.15 to K1,454.55 with the adjustments effective immediately and in force up to December, 2023.
ZAFFICO Public Relations Manager Ireen Chipili said this measure has been taken while considering the need to provide a conducive trading environment and sustainability of the timber industry in Zambia.
And Timber Producers Association of Zambia President Charles Masange says this reduction will serve the timber industry, benefit other sectors such as construction that rely on timber and improve the business environment for members.
