Lands and Natural Resources Minister Elijah Muchima has challenged Zambians to stop complaining and become participants in transforming the country through full utilization of the farming blocks dotted in different parts of the country.
Recently, Zambia and Rwanda agreed to establish and strengthen bilateral relations in the area of agriculture, agriculture research development, extension and technology transfer and utilization of the farming blocks barely few months after provisionally agreeing on a deal to provide Kenyan commercial farmers with land to grow maize, raising concerns among citizens.
But Dr Muchima tells Phoenix News that since the farming blocks have been stagnant over the years, the government will continue to attract investors whether local or foreign to bolster production in the agriculture sector.
Further, Dr Muchima says once actualized, the deal between the two countries will increase Zambia’s export earnings and its ability to export more in the region and beyond.
